Standing up for Children, Young People, Parents and Families

So it comes as no surprise that more and more children and young people need dedicated support in order to become independent and responsible members of society. Parents are also increasingly requiring assistance and advice in order to comply with the requirements of today’s society. And ever more families need help in order to cope with the issues they face.

Welfare organizations offer superb and reliable assistance. One such organization is St. Gregor Kinder-, Jugend- und Familienhilfe GmbH (St Gregor’s children and family support), one of the oldest organizations of its kind in Europe, founded by Augsburg citizens in 1572. Taking a preventative stance, it offers courses for parents, youth social work in schools, and family counselling. Disadvantaged, troubled children or children with developmental problems are supported in its special education daycare center, and families receive assistance during difficult times through its parenting and family support services. Through school projects and individual support, young people are given a second chance to finish school and enter the workforce. And if living at home is no longer an option, St. Gregor also takes in children and young people who can no longer live with their own families. They are cared for in families, in residential groups with special therapeutic programs, in foster families, or in sheltered homes for girls.

We’re very impressed by the contribution St. Gregor makes to society. As an international brand, we believe playing a part in society is integral to our corporate culture. Which is why we help people in need and organizations that fight for equality and better lives. And we participate in initiatives in order to bring about social change. Because we’re aware that government funding is often insufficient and doesn’t always reach those who need it most.

As a Swabian company headquartered in Gersthofen near Augsburg, in the south of Germany, we really want to give something back to the region we’re based in. It’s even more comforting to invest in the future of our country by helping St. Gregor with donations in kind and funding. We’ve created particularly strong ties with St. Gregor’s Schildbürger Group and Mona Lisa Group. The boys and girls are aged between 12 and 18, come from difficult family backgrounds and live in a supervised residential group. They design the visuals for our Christmas cards that we send to customers, business partners and co-workers – it’s a win-win situation all round.
