Kid Comfort SAFETY recall

 

Dear deuter customers,

We have identified an issue with the carrier’s hinge system, in which the hinges on the foldable rear kickstand support leg can crack or break, posing a fall hazard. While no injuries have been reported, deuter is initiating this voluntary recall in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission out of an abundance of caution.

The recall is limited to a specific set of Kid Comfort child carriers models and production/date codes sold in the United States. See list below:


Important information! Read this before proceeding

Only models and corresponding production codes are affected by this recall. If your Kid Comfort does not have these production codes, your child carrier is safe to continue using.

If your Kid Comfort falls under the recall as listed above, please use the Kid Comfort Recall Form to begin the return process and receive a replacement carrier.

Child carriers that were purchased in the US from March 2023 through March 2025 are potentially affected by this safety defect.

To find out whether your Kid Comfort is affected, please check the production label. This is located in the bottom compartment of all Kid Comfort models - either laminated or as a woven label.

The production date is the last 4 digits in the box on the right of the production label:

FAQ

The plastic hinges on the foldable rear kickstand support leg  can crack or break, posing a fall hazard when the stand is opened/extended. If you hear a loud cracking sound when opening the stand, this may indicate that a hinge has broken. Cracks or fractures may be visible on the plastic hinge.

Some child carriers sold from March 2023 through March 2025, occasionally have a safety defect regarding the hinge on the stand. See list of affected models and production codes below:
