From 7.03.24 to 10.03.24, and together with an international bunch of other like-minded ski touring fans, you’ll spend your days exploring new Alpine areas. deuter will supply a range of backpacks to borrow from its snow sports range to make sure you’re well quipped for the journey, and there will also be a chance to win the brand new Alproof Tour avalanche backpack at the event.

To ensure we have the best chances of finding good snow conditions, we’ll decide on the exact route at the end of January. Until then, it’ll be a surprise. Because winners will be drawn from multiple different countries, all workshops and guiding will be conducted in English.

Michael Bückers

The mountains are his world. Movement is his thing. And when snow and like-minded people come into play, the day becomes a powder-fest. Michi (born 1984), a certified mountain and ski guide and sports scientist, works in sports marketing for deuter. He took his life motto from mountaineering legend Alex Lowe: "The best climber is the one who has the most fun."

Ben Reuter

Hardly anyone knows more about the white gold than the certified mountain and ski guide, snow and climate researcher. He has led research projects on the relationship between weather and avalanche formation for the Swiss Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF). Ben (born 1984) lives near Grenoble with his wife Neige (no joke). Currently, Dr. Snow works full-time for Meteo France.

Guido Unterwurzacher

The word "good-mood machine" says it all about Guido. Wherever Guido is, there is always a good mood and whether on skis or climbing, you can safely call him a machine. As one of the owners of the Alpine School Rock'n'Roll, an enthusiastic alpinist and gifted climber, he can not only tell of difficult first ascents with the "Huberbuam" and expeditions, but also of many satisfied guests.

Monika Hümmer

Watching Moni ski is a dream. And so it is no wonder that she is a member of the DSLV teaching and demo team. Since 2018, she has also been very successful as a mountain and ski guide. With her calm, empathetic and cheerful manner, you feel incredibly comfortable when you are out and about with her.

Safety first – for us, it’s not only important that we equip you with the best gear, but we also want to equip you with the knowledge to make your mountain adventure safe and fun.

Tour planning and avalanche reports

You’ll learn how to interpret avalanche reports according to the ski tour you plan to undertake and to recognize and therefore minimize risks right from the planning stage. There will also be an introduction to the White Risk app — a clever tool to help with planning a ski tour.

Mountain first aid

How should you respond in cases of exhaustion, the onset of darkness or a fall resulting in injury? We’ll teach you the most effective rescue techniques so that you can respond well and quickly in an emergency.

Climate protection

Climate change is putting our winters at risk, and life as we know it. In this POW (Protect Our Winters) workshop you’ll learn about what action you can take as an individual. You can start the process off by opting for sustainable methods of travel to and from the deuter off-line days.

Tell us what you’re made of:

KEEN

I’m obsessed with ski touring! I’m fit enough to cover 1,000 vert. m ascent and 1,500 vert. m off-piste descent, and look forward to a nice little break at a mountain hut afterwards.

PRO

I’ve done loads of ski touring. 1,000 vert. m ascent and 1,500 vert. m off-piste descent is easily within my capabilities. I look forward to going on a ski traverse within a group of people of similar ability.

No Limits

I am fit enough to climb Mont Blanc. In the right conditions, I can also climb several peaks in one day. Skinning up and skiing down, doing laps in the high mountains — that’s what it’s all about for me.

We equip you tiptop. You can choose between the brand new deuter Alproof Tour or the Alproof avalanche backpack. And to top it off, You’ll be in with a chance to win an Alproof Tour – during the off-line days, for all your future tours!

NEW: ALPROOF TOUR

The TÜV-approved Alproof Tour is equipped with the Alpride E2 avalanche airbag system that uses the very latest supercapacitor technology for quick, reliable deployment at high pressure, even in freezing cold temperatures. With easy handling, multiple deployments possible, and a quick-access avalanche equipment compartment, plus a snug fit with zero load wobble, the result is a controlled ride every time. A leg strap prevents the pack from being ripped off in the event of an avalanche. Gear loops, gear straps and roll-top extendable capacity give this pack maximum adaptability for multi-day ski traverses.

ALPROOF

The Alproof equipped with Alpride E2 avalanche airbag system and the very latest supercapacitor technology deploys reliably, quickly and at high pressure, even in freezing cold temperatures. With multiple deployments possible, easy handling, and a quick-access avalanche equipment compartment, plus superior carry comfort and a snug fit with zero load wobble, the result is a controlled backcountry ride every time. A leg safety strap prevents the pack from being ripped off in an avalanche, while a helmet bag, gear straps and gear loops make this TÜV-inspected avalanche airbag backpack a serious mountaineering pack too.

Freescape Pro

An all-rounder for ambitious ski mountaineers, the Freescape Pro is designed for technically demanding multi-day tours. The well ventilated, secure fit offers high wearing comfort, the hinged back opening quick access to the equipment. At the same time, skis, snowboard or crampons can remain fixed on the outside thanks to the variable fastening straps. The separate safety compartment for probe and shovel is immediately accessible in case of emergency. In addition, the durable, PFC-free backpack is made of 100% recycled material, the main material is also bluesign® certified.

FREERIDER PRO

The Freerider Pro has all the features and flexible capacity you need for multi-day winter adventures in the mountains. This latest incarnation of the Freerider Pro has a new roll-top closure. This allows you to expand the capacity of the pack by 10 litres. The roll-top itself is also fitted with a stowable strap for the attachment of extra kit or a climbing rope, or to compress the roll-top itself. At times during the day when you don’t need your skis, snowshoes or snowboard, they can be attached to the outside of the pack quickly and easily using two dedicated gear straps; skis can be affixed diagonally across the back or in an A-frame, a snowboard or snowshoes in an upright position. These versatile gear straps can also be used for compression.

The closing date for participation was December 31, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.
