Backpacks for men with a special fit

deuter offers backpacks in various fits. In addition to the normal backpack fit and the SL line for women, there are also EL models for tall people. The advantages of the EL models are: 

  • The Extra Long backpacks offer perfect carrying comfort for tall people. They are suitable for people who are between 1.85 metres and 2.00 metres tall. 
  • The EL models are six to nine centimetres longer than the standard backpack models. This means they are adapted to the proportions of taller people. 
  • The volume of the EL backpacks has also been adjusted to accommodate the greater space requirements. The other features, such as the back system, remain the same in the larger models.

The Contact back system in our men's backpacks features ergonomically shaped back pads that mould to the wearer's back, ensuring that the load is distributed evenly.

A packed men's rucksack should not weigh more than 20 to 25 per cent of your body weight. A large travel rucksack with a volume of over 70 litres does not always make sense if you are not going to use the entire capacity. As a rule of thumb, 30 litres is sufficient for a day trip, but for hiking trips lasting several days, it depends on the length of your hike and your destination. Colder regions naturally require more clothing and equipment. Tall people usually need a larger rucksack, as their clothing takes up more space and they also have higher energy requirements.
If your men's rucksack is finally beyond repair after a long life, the best way to dispose of it is to put it in the bulky waste or residual waste bin, depending on its size. At deuter, we are working hard to find recycling and reuse options for defective backpacks. With over 220 different individual parts in a backpack, it is unfortunately not yet possible to recycle the backpack materials in a meaningful way.
All deuter men's rucksacks are impregnated with an environmentally friendly, water-repellent layer on the outside and coated with polyurethane (PU) on the inside. The durable, coarse-mesh rucksack fabric can withstand water columns of up to 1,000 mm. Rain rolls off the impregnation, but this protection diminishes over time. To protect the contents of your backpack from getting wet, you should use a protective cover in heavy rain, as supplied with trekking and outdoor backpacks.
At deuter, you will find women's, unisex and men's rucksacks. The men's rucksacks with EL fit (extra long) have slightly more volume and are particularly suitable for tall people over 1.85 m with broad shoulders and narrow hips, which mainly applies to men. The SL women's backpacks are designed for shorter backs, wider hips and narrow shoulders. The unisex fits are in the middle range in these areas and can therefore guarantee comfort for everyone. Ultimately, which backpack suits you best is very individual.
Please do not simply put your deuter men's backpack in the washing machine to remove dirt and stains. To clean the backpack, you can place it in a tub of lukewarm water and use a pH-neutral soap. Use a brush to remove coarse dirt, and squeeze the fabric several times to rinse it thoroughly and remove salt stains. Make sure that the inside and pockets of the backpack are well ventilated while drying.
