The lightweight, technical Futura SL hiking backpack is specifically designed for women. With a shorter back, narrower shoulder straps and conical shaped hip fins, the Futura SL creates a solid, secure fit around the back and hips. The new-style mesh on the Aircomfort back system creates maximum airflow across the back for athletic hiking. The stretch mesh front pocket is great for airing wet clothes on the move (after a quick dip in a mountain stream, for example).
The main material of the Futura series is made of bluesign® certified material.

Ideal usage
- D stands for Denier – a unit of measurement for yarn weight. 600D means that 9,000 meters of yarn weigh 600 grams. The higher the value, the more robust (and often heavier) the material.
- PES stands for Polyester. Polyester fibers are highly tear- and abrasion-resistant, easy to care for, and absorb very little moisture.
- PA stands for Polyamide (also known as nylon). Polyamide fibers are especially durable, elastic, and lightweight – ideal for textiles subject to high stress.
- REC stands for Recycled – the material is made entirely or partially from recycled resources.
- BS stands for bluesign®-certified – the material has been produced in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way according to the bluesign® standard.

Backsystem
AIRCOMFORT
Maximum Ventilation
thanks to the gap created between the mesh and a person’s back.
Steady load Distribution
thanks to the lightweight, flexi spring steel frame.
The benefits
By stabilizing and evenly distributing the load this back system relieves strain on the back over longer distances. Effective ventilation across the back reduces the burden on the circulatory system, thereby saving energy.
SL Women’s Fit
This model is also available in the SL version. The SL back length is specific for women: on average, women have shorter backs than men. The carrying system in the SL model is therefore somewhat shorter than in the deuter standard backpacks. In addition, the carrying system is specially adapted to the female anatomy. Made without intentionally added PFAS
PFAS, sometimes also referred to as PFCs, have been used in outdoor textile finishes for their water-, dirt-, and greaserepellent properties. Many PFAS are highly persistent and can accumulate in the environment over time.
Since 2020, deuter has used DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finishes without intentionally added PFAS. These finishes are selected in line with deuter’s chemical management requirements and applicable product safety standards.

Outstanding performance in a small package
I have walked more than 2700 miles wearing this pack, both preparing for and then walking the Shikoku Pilgrimage twice in consecutive years. The pack is as good as new still. There is no appreciable wear to any part that affects performance in any way. I have stitched a few places where I was too enthusiastic about cramming something into a side pocket and abused the elastic, but these are good as new with little effort. The fabric comes clean with soap and water. Coffee stains disappear. I have loaded the pack with upwards of 25 pounds for long periods and found it comfortable. I don't have an ultra-lite pack to compare this to, because this one is light enough to accommodate my needs. I have a rain cover, an ultrasil liner and a poncho that covers the pack, because more than anything else I do not want my stamp books to get wet because they are irreplaceable. I have walked for days through driving rain without a care. I use knit bags to organize my gear which makes packing and unpacking easy. My poles clip to the outside daisy chain perfectly. An H2O bladder fits perfectly in the mesh back pocket. For what is basically hut to hut hiking- I stay in guest houses which on pilgrimage- this design is perfect. You could spend more, but I think Deuter has done an outstanding job with this pack, and I would happily choose another model to meet any other need that I had. Thank you.
