Standards & Systems
deuter uses recognised standards and systems to guide our work and assess environmental and social performance.
bluesign / bluepass
bluesign provides an independent framework for chemical management, worker and consumer safety, resource use and environmental impacts in textile production.
Since 2008, deuter has worked with bluesign on chemical management and safer textile production. The system applies the bluesign® Criteria across different levels of the value chain. This includes reviewing company management systems and production processes, checking and registering chemical products and materials before they are used, and certifying finished products that meet the relevant requirements (read more under PLANET).
bluepass is bluesign’s new certification label, replacing the previous bluesign® PRODUCT and bluesign® APPROVED designations. It identifies certified chemical products, materials and finished products that meet the relevant bluesign® Criteria.
Green Button
The Green Button ("Grüner Knopf" in German) is a government-run certification label for textiles. It combines requirements for corporate due diligence with recognised social and environmental certifications for products and production processes.
For deuter, the certification provides an independent assessment of deuter’s due diligence management and the requirements applied to labelled products.
deuter has held Green Button certification since 2021 and is certified as a company according to Green Button 2.0.1. Eligible products are certified based on recognised standards covering the relevant supply-chain stages.
Fair Wear Foundation
Fair Wear is an independent multi-stakeholder organisation that assesses how member brands implement human rights due diligence and work to improve conditions in garment production.
Fair Wear gives deuter an external framework for identifying labour-related risks, improving purchasing practices and strengthening workers’ access to grievance and remedy mechanisms.
As a member, deuter implements Fair Wear’s Code of Labour Practices through its supplier management, risk assessments, factory audits, training, complaints mechanisms and corrective action plans. Fair Wear regularly evaluates deuter’s management system and implementation through published Brand Performance Checks.
ClimatePartner
ClimatePartner is an international climate action consultancy that helps businesses calculate, reduce, and offset their carbon emissions. They provide a software platform to measure carbon footprints and offer access to certified global carbon offset projects.
Since 2020, deuter has worked with ClimatePartner to calculate emissions from its operations and products. The results help inform deuter’s reduction measures. deuter also finances selected climate projects based on calculated emissions.
