  • D stands for Denier – a unit of measurement for yarn weight. 600D means that 9,000 meters of yarn weigh 600 grams. The higher the value, the more robust (and often heavier) the material.
  • PES stands for Polyester. Polyester fibers are highly tear- and abrasion-resistant, easy to care for, and absorb very little moisture.
  • PA stands for Polyamide (also known as nylon). Polyamide fibers are especially durable, elastic, and lightweight – ideal for textiles subject to high stress.

Top-Features of Freerider Pro 32+10

For multi-day ski touring this roll-top backpack allows the volume of the pack to be adjusted to the load. With an extra 10 liters when required. The extendable volume is adjusted using the roll-top function in combination with two stowable straps used to compress the load as well as to attach a rope. Even at full capacity, the pack does not restrict head movement, which is another plus when negotiating steep terrain.
The LiteSnow back system is ultralight, extremely comfortable to carry and moisture resistant. That's down to the snow-shedding materials and design. The special shape of the back padding with recesses between the EVA foam covered in Spandex material means that snow cannot stick to it, which prevents moisture from penetrating and results in all-day carrying comfort.
A clamshell rear opening offers quick access to the main compartment, with the zipper running below the shoulder straps so they can't get in the way during the zipping process. This also means you can leave your skis or snowboard strapped to your pack while rummaging in the main compartment. A dedicated avalanche compartment also provides fast access to equipment in the event of an emergency.

Review with rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Really enjoying this bag so far. It’s small and compact for day tours, and with the expansion you can fit enough gear for one or two nights in a hut. The design is solid - back panel access is great - bag carries well. Rope strap is crucial when using the roll top. When the bag is overfilled, the top compartment can feel a bit floppy, but when the strap is used it holds everything in the roll top nice and snug. When I’m not using the roll top, I use that space between the main compartment as an extra zippered pouch for mitts and skins between laps, which works great. I’m giving it four stars because I’m a little unsure about the durability of the fabric on the outside of the avalanche compartment. After about 10 days of use, it’s already showing some wear from my shovel pressing against it. I might glue or tape on a more durable layer on the inside. For sizing, I’m 6' tall and the pack fits well. I’d prefer a bit more back length, but it’s a minor complaint.
