Andrea has two great passions in her life: her son Paul and biking. As a qualified sports scientist (from Cologne’s Sport University), she runs her company, Bike Agentur, out of Konstanz. She develops and organises marketing measures for the biking offers of holiday regions and hotels.
Mrs “Huhn” [hen]
My first bike:
1987 a Specialized Rockhopper.
My favourite route:
a nice uphill stretch up to 1000 metres, a flow trail downhill and a break in a beautiful setting, such as Monte Faudo in Liguria, the Bernina trail in the Engadin.
Uphill or downhill?
I like riding uphill and love flowing downhill.
That’s why I get involved:
I’ve been a part of the Deuter SL team since 2007 and I’m very proud to be involved in the development of the SL products. All the different female “facets” are represented on the team. What I love about Deuter is their passion to keep refining the products. And the social and ecological commitment that is not done for commercial reasons but from an inner conviction.
I’ve been with Deuter since 1996 and have been managing the Deuter SL team since it was set up in 2006. My main responsibility alongside the SL team is to manage the press work with heart and soul. Our SL team caused Deuter to rethink on a grand scale. At first, it wasn’t all that easy to convince the male world that not only do women look different, but we also need a different fit and that we think and feel differently. In my free time, I’m actively involved with my show dance group Frantic. Even though we don’t do as many performances as we used to, we are still very active together, whether that’s Nordic Walking, in sports camps in Inzell or hiking in the Allgäu. My family, and my husband in particular, give me plenty of freedom and, hopefully, my charming grown-up son Timo will soon be standing on his own two feet.
If I had a lot of time, I’d like to spend more time in Nepal, as the Deuter Primary School in Kathmandu is very close to my heart.
Product designer at Deuter with a focus on Alpine and sleeping bags.
Interests: I absolutely love being out and about in the mountains. I’m currently focussing all my passion on alpine and sport climbing. That brings me to my personal limits time and time again – as well as to beautiful places. In addition to sporting activities, I like creating new things: a piece of furniture, good food or a backpack.
What’s important to you?
Authenticity and satisfaction.
What have you always wanted to do?
Sleep on a portaledge.
I’m part of the Deuter SL team because…
as a developer, it’s incredibly important and exciting to get as much user feedback as possible. And I find the fact that the SL team is made up of so many inspiring women really enriching!
Favourite SpotsI love being in nature but also in the city. I like empty places, or if there’s no option, then I like getting up early to enjoy the places in peace. On the other hand, I’m also drawn to the hustle and bustle of a city, for an exhibition, a tourist attraction or a concert. So, my favourite places are rather contradictory: –Moeraki Boulders New Zealand –Iceland Airwaves (Reykjavik) –my native quarry pond early in the morning –the Allgäu with its diverse mountains –and so on and so forthLearn more
Job: Management Assistant at Deuter, amongst other things, she is “responsible” for the CEO, training, the fleet, company events, travel organisation, etc.
Hobbies: biking, walking tours, travel, yoga, my old scooter, my garden, reading, concerts, …
Other: curious to discover new things
I’m part of the Deuter SL team because… I find it fun to think about products for women, to throw ideas about in a group consisting entirely of women. I feel understood here :)
If I had lots of time I’d like to… do the Albsteig in Baden-Württemberg…help with a charity overseas…work on a boat so that I could travel to Antarctica… ride my scooter to Italy
Deuter flash: down-to-earth – feel good – function
Favourite SpotsI’m enthusiastic about many places, both in the mountains of Nepal or Pakistan and in our native mountains, in summer and winter. To name just one: The Gosaukamm in the Dachstein Mountains with its countless climbing opportunities, combined with the long ascents, is a particular favourite of mine.Learn more
I’ve been a professional partner of Deuter since 2005, and even before that, I regularly took my Deuter backpacks with me on treks and expeditions, and they always performed well. For me, the cooperation with the Deuter SL team is of particular value, and I always look forward to my regular meetings and exchanges with the girls. When I’m not in the mountains or giving presentations, I like being out and about on my mountain bike, plus, I enjoy baking cakes, practising yoga, meditating and reading.

Hobbies: being out and about in the Alps: mountaineering, climbing, high tours, ski tours, skiing, MTB
swimming and biking Other: DAV specialist leader in mountaineering and skiing, member of the JDAV Baden-Württemberg state training team, candidate for the JDAV national training team
If I had lots of time I’d like to… experience the Alpine range with all the fascination of the mountains and get to know the people with their culture.
Why I like being in the Deuter SL team: I find it great to work in a motivated and open-minded team. Here in the Deuter SL team, we test and develop backpacks together. Our test results flow into the new Deuter products as the interface between end consumers and the development department.
Deuter flash: dynamic, innovative, social
Job: Product Design & Development at Deuter
Activities: biking, jogging, hiking and travelling. Discovery tours to cities, mountains and landscapes, usually with my SLR camera
What’s important to you? The usual: family, friends, health, the freedom over my decisions and actions. A job that is both fun and challenging in a harmonious environment.
What have you always wanted to do? What is your dream? To cycle round Lake Constance. To explore New Zealand with a backpack.
I’m part of the Deuter SL team because… it’s exciting to contribute to the Zeitgeist, to pick up on new trends, to give backpacks some female flair. Thanks to the specialist feedback from the Deuter SL team and the wishes expressed from a female point of view, it’s always a challenge to keep developing the backpacks further.
If I had lots of time, I’d like to… spend a long time exploring New Zealand in depth! Experiencing and getting to know the culture, the people and nature. Totally without commitments and flexible, able to explore the beauty of the island with a backpack just as the fancy takes me.
What I’d write in a summit register? “Get your priorities straight so that you can enjoy life” and “Your path is your destination!”
Job: Official mountain and ski guide, high school teacher
Hobbies: naturally everything to do with mountains, climbing and biking. I also enjoy working in my small garden, I make herbal infusions and very good compost. It’s fascinating how the little bugs in the earth – worms and so on – turn our waste into great soil!!! And every now and then, I even get to read!!
Other: Member of the DAV state youth and mountaineering training team and the JDAV Baden-Württemberg national youth training team, member of the VDBS training team, mountain hiking guide
I’m part of the Deuter SL team because… I think it’s great that Deuter was the first company to make a backpack designed specifically for female backs. Finally, I no longer get a headache after a long climb with a heavy backpack! When we work on suggested improvements in the team and they are then quickly implemented, I find that highly motivating. We’re also a jolly crowd and we have a lot of fun whenever we’re together!
If I had a lot of time, I’d like to… do a lot more climbing. Spend a bit more time in my garden. And spend more time with family and friends, which, unfortunately, I never seem to have enough time for.
Deuter flash: fully motivated, always on the move
Job: Travelling sales rep for Deuter in North Germany
Hobbies: Nature photography from animals to macro, and if I like a particular theme, I can invest hours or days in it until I’ve got the image I want. Travelling in places where there are not many people, preferably in the north and in winter. Touring with my folding boat to spend a lot of time in the heart of nature. Other: Member of the GDT (Association of German nature photographers)
I’m part of the Deuter SL team because… I can help the needs of North German women to feed into the development.
If I had lots of time, I’d like to… experience a complete polar night and the return of the sun
Deuter flash: team spirit – create something together.
