Levi, in Finnish Lapland, is a place where extraordinary light meets unspoilt nature and unforgettable outdoor adventures.
A journey of endless days and moments that stay with you long after you've returned home.
For weeks, the sun never sets, bathing the landscape in ever-changing colours around the clock. Here, the "golden hour" lasts not just a few minutes, but for hours. During the day, the light is crisp and bright, while around midnight the landscape glows in warm shades of gold, yellow and orange. This extraordinary atmosphere makes Levi a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and photographers alike.
This is where Light & Motion by deuter begins. When exceptional light meets movement, images are created that tell stories – on mountain bike trails, in a canoe, during encounters with huskies and horses, or around a campfire in the vast wilderness of Lapland.
Equipped with gear from deuter and Tamron, and supported by travel partner journaway, three photographers travelled to Levi in June to explore the region from their own unique perspectives. Between rolling fells, winding rivers and endless forests, they created three distinct visual stories – all connected by one shared theme: Light & Motion.

The Photographers
Jannik Obenhoff, Long-Nong Huang and Jochen Manz travelled to Levi in Finnish Lapland together.
But while they shared the same journey, each captured a unique perspective.
Discover Levi through the eyes of Jannik, Long-Nong and Jochen.
Jannik Obenhoff
Light. Landscape. Endless Horizons.
Jannik Obenhoff is a photographer and filmmaker based in Munich, specialising in outdoor landscapes and adventure. As co-founder of the German Roamers collective, he has helped shape modern outdoor photography for many years. His work is defined by light, vast landscapes and a clean visual style. Most of the time, you'll find him out exploring – preferably where nature still has the final say.

Jochen Manz

People. Moments. Stories.
Jochen Manz has been photographing and filming since his youth. He studied photography and design, taught photography at Cologne University of Applied Sciences, and has led numerous workshops and exhibitions in Germany and abroad. People and the stories they tell are at the heart of his work. Whether documentary, commercial, editorial or book projects, his images are defined by authenticity, character and, at times, a subtle sense of humour.
Long-Nong Huang
Movement. Atmosphere. Wanderlust.
Long-Nong Huang is drawn to places that feel like they're from another world – from the mystical landscapes of the North and barren deserts to lush tropical forests. Through his photography and films, he goes beyond capturing landscapes, focusing instead on the atmosphere, the sense of adventure and the feeling of wanderlust they inspire. He takes his community along on every journey, sharing the experience from both behind and in front of the camera.

Experience Levi
A journey through the mountains, along the river and under the midnight sun.
Discover Levi in Lapland from a whole range of perspectives – whether you’re looking for an active holiday, a more relaxed break, or simply in search of that very special light.
After arriving and checking in at the Design Hotel Levi, our first evening took us to Levi Fjäll. Finland’s largest ski resort is situated around 170 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. Here, we were treated to fantastic views of the play of light in the summer sky and across the endless expanses of Lapland.
The following day was all about exercise and nature. The team explored the trails around Levi on e-mountain bikes. At Elves Village (@elvesvillage) and during a visit to the Aurora Pyramids in Tonttula, the focus was on culture and Finnish Midsummer traditions.
When the sun doesn’t set, the night seems endless. After dinner at the Saunabaari (@saunabaarilevi) right on the shores of Lake Immeljärvi, one of the highlights of the trip followed: the traditional midsummer bonfire on the fell – above the tree line, in the midst of the tundra landscape. The arctic-bright night drew to a close with a canoe trip (@kinossafaris) on the Levijoki River and Lake Sirkkajärvi – offering countless photo opportunities that impressively showcase the unique light of this region.
The result is a portrait of a destination that shows itself at its best in summer – with a mix of activities, nature experiences and the ever-changing play of light.
