With seven climbed eight-thousanders without the use of artificial oxygen, Alix is currently the most successful German high altitude climber. Whenever time allows, she is out on expeditions, ski tours, climbing or mountain biking. In yoga she finds the balance to competitive sports. Professionally, Alix works as a PR manager, lecturer, author and yoga teacher. 

Ben is a guide and researcher. Snow is his passion. Over the past years he has lived in quite different places, but more or less always done the same thing. He dug holes – not in search for gold, but to understand avalanches. The different cultures left traces. So, he changed his favorite brew, from Bavarian Lager to IPA and then became a fan of Tartiflette. Today, he lives in the French Alps, where he works for the national weather service and trains avalanche professionals. He still loves to get on trips; his all-time favorites are rail trips to ski or climb with a deuter duffle. Ben helps the Alpine family fill the space between the products with stories and know-how.

As a native Allgäuer I love and appreciate my homeland and always look forward to returning there after a journey. Just like with the Deuter products. Having grown up with the children's mountain tour backpacks, I would now like to have the Alpine backpack series, which I love to use for mountain guiding and private mountaineering.  

In the beginning they were grassy mountain tours and ski tours with cross-country skis and provisionally glued on ascent skins. After the interest in climbing and ski touring was awakened by the mountain rescue service, there followed years of fun and always happy life on the rock, on skis and in the high mountains. Finally, with valuable experience from my mountain guide training, I would now like to turn my hobby partly into my profession.

I would describe myself as a little bundle of energy, which is contagious :D. I hope I can use this energy in the further development of the Deuter Alpine Family and inspire other people to enjoy mountain sports. I like to go ski touring and long climbing tours with good friends, where I mainly use the modern, practical and lightweight Guide Lite backpack series.

Fabian Buhl studies geology in Innsbruck. Like virtually everyone who grows up in the Allgäu, he is very attached to his homeland – in his case, Oberstaufen. From when he was a young boy, he has always been involved in the local sports scene. When he gave up downhill skiing at the age of 16, he decided to look for a new challenge. Climbing soon became his new passion: exercise and nature – both fascinated Fabian. After just a few months, it became clear to him that he wanted to develop his climbing skills. And that happened quite fast: in Scheidegg, Fabian found a training group that took him along on trips to France and Italy. However, the crucial trip was one he took to Cresciano in Ticino. “That changed everything”, explains Fabian. He wanted to train and go bouldering so that he could climb all the beautiful rocks there. “Still today, Ticino is a place to which I keep coming back”, reveals the 25-year-old. But Fabian also loves travelling in the Raetikon and in South Africa. Meanwhile, the geology student is quite a celebrity, and it’s no wonder: He collects challenging repeat climbs such as Psychogramm 8b+ on the Bürser Platte and Alexander Huber’s multi-pitch tour Nirwana 8c+ on the Loferer Alm. When making his first ascents, he tries to set himself new challenges. “I don’t have a special discipline, but instead I try to incorporate as much variety as possible and to explore my limits in bouldering, traditional and alpine climbing”, says Fabian. And here he has succeeded in an impressive manner, as Climax Magazine has already named him the world’s best all-round climber.

This is why I’m involved: Deuter for me has always stood for reliable and durable products developed in Germany. That’s why I’m happy that I was able to help with the development of the climbing collection. I’m aware that it’s a huge privilege to be so well supported by Deuter, so that I can project my dreams onto the walls of the world!

In 2015, a dream came true for Fabi Lentsch when he qualified for the Freeride World Tour at the age of 21. But after just one season he realises that life around the World Tour doesn't make him happy and decides to go his own way. He wants to go in search of undiscovered backcountry lines - the best in the world. And he wants to travel - travel slowly, take time for the country and its people and thus travel sustainably. He is particularly fond of the countries in Eastern Europe, the Balkans and the Caucasus. We are happy to be in Fabi's luggage...

Being out in the mountains, whether climbing, cycling or running, is part of a successful day for me. If you sweat a little bit during this, all the better. In "young" years I was on the road every weekend in "extreme" tours, today I try to minimize the risk with the big goal to become an old mountain climber. This is also one of the reasons why my path led me from the expedition squad of the German Alpine Club to the mountain guide training of the VDBS. Constant development in what you do, leaving your comfort zone and fighting for new goals is really good for me.

Flo started running 1997. In the intervening 26 years he has run around the world three times – over 130,000 kilometers in total. Besides running and competing, he loves simply being outdoors – easy days in the mountains enjoying nature and exploring new places and peaks. In 2019, he moved to the mountainous region of Inzell, Bavaria. The geography and diversity of his new home was also reflected in Flo's training schedule. Because in addition to ski touring, cross-country skiing and hiking, he has now added cycling to his repertoire. And with great success.
