Description

Reduced to the essentials, this lightweight pack made with bluesign® certified body fabric expertly balances comfort and weight, so you can devote more energy to the trail. This is largely down to the Aircontact back system covered in Air Spacer mesh which performs three functions in one to save weight: Comfort, cushioning and ventilation. The innovative Clip & Loop back length adjustment offers a tailored, comfortable fit, while mobile VariFlex ECL hip fins and an ergonomic lumbar pad distribute the load effectively. And the hardwearing ripstop body fabric made from performance fibers is built to withstand the rigors of long-distance hiking.

Aircontact Ultra

Reduced to the essentials, this lightweight pack expertly balances comfort and weight, so you can devote more energy to the trail. The lid can also be detached to reduce overall weight.

PFAS free

This product is free from PFAS (per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances). PFAS have water, dirt and grease repellent properties but they are persistent chemicals and harmful to people, animals, and the environment.

Instead, deuter uses durable water-repellent finishes (DWR) that are environmentally sound and harmless to human and animal health, and free from these ‘forever chemicals’.

I would LOVE this bag if the material would be different. It is very noisy. The bag squeaks when walking and different parts rubbing to each other. Also I do not get the point how can be this adopted to a huge back length range if the carabiner holding the shoulder strap can be attached to only 3 different loops which are 1 cm away from each other... On the other side the weight / comfort ratio is incredible. Most convenient pack when carrying 10-15 kg. Similar performance to AirContact Lite but 500 gr less weight... For those not irritated by the noise (try in a shop) this can be THE perfect UL bag.

Completely satisfied. I tried this bag on an intense hike in Peru. 7 days of autonomy, +100 km travelled, +7000 D+, +8000D-, in temperatures ranging from 30°C to close to 0°C; I think we can say that it is a good test! I wore between 16 and 14 kg every day, with two days around 19 kg. The backpack is very pleasant, I had no pain, neither in the shoulders, nor in the back, nor at the level of the belt, it evacuates perspiration well. The fabric seems very resistant, to see over time, but I trust Deuter, my last bag at +10 years old and no hitch. I did not test it in the rain, I used a bag protector which is not provided. Only downside: I would have liked an inside pocket to store important documents.

Being in the Outdoor Industry for over 27 years, I've had packs by all the big names. I loved this pack. Recently bagged Killington in VT with it, and Bigelow Mtn. in Maine. Just a big sack with no extra frills keeps it light weight and the outer stretch pocket swallowed my whole tent. The lid is just the right size for my essentials as are the pockets on the belt. The only thing I would tweak is the bottom of the hip-belt ; it flares off my waist. But overall , plan on more trips with it .
